Starting a Katie’s Krops Garden is so much more than just receiving funding to grow a garden. Youth selected as Katie’s Krops Growers are empowered to grow a healthy end to hunger in their community and positively impacting the health of their cities and towns. The program provides youth gardeners with funding to start their garden in the form of a gift card to a garden supply store in their community; access to our private grower website to document their harvest, volunteer hours, post pictures, and monthly reports; access to a private message board to connect with fellow growers across the country and learn from one another; a growing manual written specifically for Katie’s Krops Growers; garden supplies from our sponsors; and support from our Master Gardener and the Katie’s Krops team. All produce must be donated to a local organization to feed people in need.
Eligible Organizations: This grant is available to individuals ages 9 to 16. Gardens may be started at schools or community sites and may be “passed down” to classmates, siblings or other youth.
Awards: $500 garden supply gift card
Deadline: Annually, applications are accepted between October 1 and December 31
