The Allen Foundation, Inc. focuses its grant making on programs and projects that promote nutrition. The foundation makes grants in the areas of education, training, health, and research. Priority is given to programs and projects that focus on nutritional research, education and training of pregnant women, and nutrition education. The foundation also funds programs that focus on the solution of immediate emergency hunger and malnutrition problems. The foundation welcomes proposals that develop and advance the inclusion of mandatory courses in nutrition in medical schools; bringing the promise of nutrigenomics or nutritional genomics to realization; and the promotion of environmentally sound, economically viable, socially responsive, sustainable food and agricultural systems.
Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible to apply. Interested applicants must first complete a short eligibility quiz. Under certain circumstances, the foundation accepts applications from hospitals and medical clinics, as well as kindergarten through grade 12 public, private, and parochial schools. Applications must be submitted online.
