Mahoning County ESC Offers Free PBL PD

Mahoning County Educational Services Center member educators will learn to develop students college and career readiness skills through authentic problem-based learning experiences during a free, all-day workshop on January 9, 2018.

Participants will learn the design-thinking process to guide them through the creation of a unit or lesson that combines state academic standards and college, career and community readiness skills while solving real world problems. By the end of the day, each participant will have created a unit or lesson that will engage their students’ minds, hearts and passions.

EnvisionEdPlus Innovation Specialist, Dr. Trista Warren, will facilitate. The founding superintendent of iSTEM Geauga Early College High School, Dr. Warren is dedicated to innovative practices that engage all stakeholders in a rigorous environment, providing meaning for learning.  She has more than 20 years of education experience and has presented on more than 100 occasions for educational stakeholders on the importance of real-life learning, engagement, and grit. Dr. Warren has served as a high school and middle school English teacher, principal/assistant principal, curriculum director and superintendent.
