We held the first session Wednesday and the response was terrific. Educators from across the state participated and really connected with the presentation. Dr. Jen Poggio from Achieve 3000 and Dr. Dan Reynolds from John Carroll University were top notch presenters sharing up to date research – in an educator friendly way – to help teachers and leaders better understand how we can support strong literacy instruction for all learners. I shared some tidbits about Striving Readers grant and creating strong Local Literacy Plans.

Description – Elementary educators know there is a wealth of information on evidence based strategies for early literacy. However, school leaders find it very challenging to locate well-documented, evidenced-based strategies for improving literacy at the middle and high school levels. Districts preparing to apply for Ohio’s new Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy grant are particularly interested in recent research that meets ESSA requirements for evidence-based practices.
