Cultivating Healthy Communities Grant Program (AETNA)

The Cultivating Healthy Communities Grant Program recognizes that health is local: it begins in our homes, schools, jobs, and neighborhoods. By creating more chances to make healthy choices in these places, we can empower whole communities to lead healthier lives. Over the past three years, they expanded their programming beyond the original focus on physical activity, urban farms, and local food. They are still committed to these areas, and they’ll be considered under this RFP. But the program as a whole aims to have broader impact and reach more spaces in the community.

The program invites projects which address issues in the following domains: Built Environment, Community Safety, Environmental Exposures, Healthy Behaviors, and Social/Economic Factors. The program is especially interested in projects that advance resident- or youth-led initiatives, and projects that seek to influence and strengthen local policies that impact residents’ health.

Expected award is up to $2 million in grants to organizations in the contiguous United States through this program. This will be a highly competitive funding opportunity with a two-stage application process. All Stage 1 applications must be received by April 18 at 3PM ET.

Applications will not be accepted as late or incomplete. You must submit a Stage 1 application in order to be considered for Stage 2.
