Project Lead the Way is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the United States. PLTW empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges.
With support from the Astellas USA Foundation, the PLTW Computer Science initiative provides support to rural teachers in their efforts to inspire future scientists by funding computer science programs. The initiative also aims to elevate the college and/or career prospects of rural students in STEM areas and to improve communities. Schools must offer at least one PLTW Computer Science course of their choosing beginning in the 2018-19 academic year.
Eligibility: K-12 public, private, and charter schools located in rural Illinois.
Award: Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to public, private, and charter schools located in rural Illinois in support of in-school computer science programs.
