The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) presents Inspire Special Events Grants that support creation or enhancement of short-term projects and events that promote reading, books, literacy, and authors, with the goal of increasing student achievement. Grants may be used for author visits, contests, book clubs, summer reading programs, and displays.
Eligible applicants are public middle and high schools serving grades 5 through 12. ALA/AASL membership is not required. Preference is given to schools with 85 percent or more students that qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Schools must have an existing campus library and one staff position held by a certified school librarian. Applications must be submitted using the online system.

Award: Grants up to $2,000 are awarded.
Deadline: Applications are accepted September 1, 2019, through February 1, 2020.
