The Walmart Foundation sponsors the Access to Healthier Food Program among its Strengthening Communities initiatives. The program aims to improve access and availability of healthy food and increase individuals’ confidence in selecting, preparing, and serving healthier foods. Funding is intended for nonprofit organizations that support underserved and food insecure households and have the capacity to scale proven strategies, as well as test and evaluate new placed-based efforts.
Funding is typically for less than two years, although requests for up to three years are accepted. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and must be listed in the IRS 50 State Master File at the time of applying. Organizations should operate nationally or in multiple states, or seek funding to replicate local/regional programs on a national scope.
The application process requires an initial Letter of Inquiry (LOI), which is submitted online using the form provided. Based on the LOI, organizations may be invited to submit a full proposal.
Eligibility: Other (including homeschool, 501 (c)(3) organizations)
Award: Awards vary.
