Katie’s Krops is accepting applications for the 2021 grant cycle. Grants are offered to youth between the ages of 7 and 16 in the United States to start vegetable gardens with the harvest donated to feed people in need. Katie’s Krops does not offer garden grants. This program is an application to become a Katie’s Krops Grower.
A child, or a group of children, can apply as long as they fall within the age range of 7 to 16 and live in the United States.
Youth selected as Katie’s Krops Growers will be awarded an all-inclusive grower box so they can get started.
Applications for all types of vegetable gardens, such as a container garden if you live in a city, or a vegetable garden located in your neighborhood or at your school, will be considered. The grantee decides where the garden will be grown. The grant winners also determine where they will donate their harvest, which is based on the need in their community. As an example, the harvest can be used to support classmates in need, homeless shelters, food banks, or for neighbors in need.
The youth selected will become a part of the Katie’s Krops growing family, thus joining the nationwide team of KK Growers. All KK Growers that complete all of the yearly reporting requirements are eligible for funds to continue to grow, year after year, thereby creating a sustainable solution to hunger in their community.
Eligible Organizations: This grant is available to individuals ages 9 to 16. Gardens may be started at schools or community sites and may be “passed down” to classmates, siblings or other youth.
Deadline: The application deadline is December 31, and applications must be mailed. Please allow sufficient mailing time. Note that early applicants will receive priority.
