Foster College- and Career-Ready Skills with Entrepreneurship Education

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report, critical thinking and problem-solving top the list of skills employers believe will grow in prominence in the next five years, along with active learning, resilience, stress tolerance, and flexibility. These and other essential skills can be learned and strengthened through entrepreneurship education.

The Ohio Afterschool Network, Young Entrepreneur Institute, and EnvisionEdPlus are partnering  to provide out-of-school time programs and schools with free resources, training, and technical assistance to provide equitable access to entrepreneurship education designed to build and strengthen 21st century skills.

We are also providing monthly introductions and deep dives into several free or reasonably priced hands on and real world entrepreneurship education curricula and programs that will prepare Ohio high school students to:

To further support out-of-school time programs, and any educator, EnvisionEdPlus is also facilitating the Entrepreneurship Education Professional Learning Community, formerly known as the OMJ Readiness Seal PLC .

Entrepreneurship Education Professional Learning Community (EE-PLC)

Did you know that in 2017, around 35% of all US workers were freelancers. That number
is expected to rise to 50% by 2027 (Forbes, 2017). These new jobs require a different mindset — one that is flexible, customer oriented and constantly in search of opportunities (NFTE, 2019). Research shows that an entrepreneurs’ mindset — skills including innovation, self-reliance, comfort with risk, communication and problem solving — prepares young people for lifelong success ~ regardless of the career path they may take!

Join us monthly for an hour of collaborative learning where educators, out-of-school time professionals, businesses and non-profits will explore entrepreneurship’s many facets and discover new ways to engage young people in building their own entrepreneurial skills and mindsets so they can succeed anywhere, in anything they do!

OAN’s Entrepreneurship Ed Professional Learning Community All PLCS will be live virtual and held on Tuesdays from @ 10am-11am Eastern time.

  • November 16th
  • Registration for future dates will be available soon.

Entrepreneurship Mindset Industry Credential & Small Business Credential

As Ohio shifts to the new, long term graduation requirements, many students will need to demonstrate career readiness by earning Industry Recognized Credentials, such as the Entrepreneurship Small Business (ESB) certification which counts as three (3) of twelve (12) points students can earn within the business and hospitality career pathways. We teamed up with business and non-profits to identify reasonably priced entrepreneurship curricula that can be used in schools, afterschool programs and summer learning to prepare students to earn their ESB certification. Each course or program offers hands-on, fun ways to engage students in building entrepreneuship skills and mindsets that can be offered in person, virtually, or in a blended model.

OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal via Entrepreneurship

Did you know that hundreds of Ohio businesses recognize the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal (OMJ Seal)? Now, young people who include the OMJ Seal on their resume, are often viewed more positively by employers than other applicants with the same qualifications. OAN, Young Entrepreneur Institute and Venture Lab partnered to create a FREE 12-lesson curriculum through which students build an entrepreneur’s mindset and skills while completing the tasks to earn their OMJ Seals.
