Congratulations to our friends for their Career Technical Education Equipment Grant win!
We are so pleased to announce that six of our grant applicants have been awarded a total of $8,480,184.77 for Ohio’s Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program! The purpose of this program is to award grants to schools to create or expand CTE programs.
Congratulations to our friends at the Bath Local, Marion, Marysville, Ontario, Riverside, and Trumbull Career Technical Center schools! Below are just a few of the awesome plans they have in store for their students.
Bath Local Schools plans to add a health sciences and education pre-apprenticeship and expand their environmental sustainability programming. They will partner with Inventionland Education to convert an existing classroom into an immersive STEM Careers Lab, where every 9th grader will complete Paxton Patterson College and Career Ready Lab modules.
Marion City Schools plans to introduce six credentials from Ohio’s Innovative Workforce Incentive Program list through their Robotics Program: Slide Caliper and Micrometer Measurement, Tape & Rule and Angle Measurement, Usage and Safety, Robotics Education & Competition Foundation – Pre-Engineering, Robotics Education & Competition Foundation – Robotics, and Universal Robotics Core Training. In addition, the district will partner with Marion Technical College to offer a summer camp for underrepresented students of color and female students to increase interest in robotics and advanced manufacturing.
Marysville Exempted Village Schools plans to create a comprehensive aviation program for grades 7 through 12. Students completing the program will earn the following certifications: Remote Pilot Certification, Visual Line of Sight Systems Operations: Flight Training, Visual Line of Sight Systems Operations: Ground School, Telecommunication Tower Technician 1, Small Unmanned Safety Institute Certification Level 1, and Universal Robotics Core Training.
Ontario Schools plans to expand an existing CTE Manufacturing Operations pathway by enhancing Pre-Engineering (STEM) courses at Ontario Middle School so that students deeply explore career fields in construction technology, health and biomedical, information technology, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain, transportation technology, and agriculture. At Ontario High School students will create their own personalized pathways from a library of Amatrol credentials aligned to mechatronics, industrial control systems, robotics and the industrial internet of things (IIoT). They’ll use Amatrol’s Ignite: Mastering Manufacturing program to support learning in a new mechatronics lab curated in partnership with our friends at Buckeye Education Systems.
Riverside Schools plans to develop an advanced manufacturing pre-apprenticeship program with local industry partner Alliance for Working Together; add new credentials to an existing construction pre-apprenticeship to increase opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in plumbing, masonry, drywall and concrete finishing; and introduce the Certificate of Advanced Proficiency (CAP) in its healthcare pathway. The CAP prepares students to perform some functions of clinicians, service coordinators, administrators, managers, maintenance, and clerical personnel working directly with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities at local hospitals and the board of developmental disabilities.
Trumbull Career Technical Center also plans to use Amatrol’s Ignite: Mastering Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 Fundamentals programs to support learning in a new mechatronics lab curated in partnership with our friends at Buckeye Education Systems. Their industrial technology program will prepare students for 56 different occupations in advanced manufacturing with certifications including Basic Hydraulic Systems, Basic Mechanical Systems, and Basic Pneumatic Systems; Electrical Systems, Electronic Control Systems, and Process Control Systems; Maintenance Operations, Maintenance Piping, and Maintenance Welding; Measurement, Materials & Safety; Occupational Safety and Health Administration; Automation Systems Specialist; Industrial Internet of Things, Networking and Data Analytics; and Electrical System Installation.
