Ontario Middle and High School has been making great strides to provide their students high-quality learning opportunities aligned with in-demand jobs and our team recently had the chance to see it first hand! We are proud to say that we helped them secure the largest grant they’ve ever received of over $600,000 through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Career Technical Education Equipment grant!
We took a trip to Ontario, Ohio to see the amazing new equipment and curriculum now available to Ontario students and to discover more about the LJ Create middle school career exploration program provided through Buckeye Educational Systems
Thanks to this grant, Ontario was able to create three new STEM labs where middle and high school students can tinker, create, and problem-solve. From robotics and 3D printing to coding and engineering challenges, these labs give students real-world skills while exposing them to career paths.
At EEP, we do a lot of grant writing and we work closely with schools to develop ideas that align with their goals and create meaningful opportunities for students. Getting to step inside a school post-grant and see that vision come to life is something truly special.
It’s not just about writing grants, it’s about transforming education and expanding what’s possible for schools and students. Ontario was able to create three spaces filled with cutting-edge technology, hands-on learning stations, that offer all students endless opportunities to explore STEM in innovative ways. Thanks to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce,, Ontario now offers their students a wide range of courses aligned with in-demand career fields in Richland County and across Ohio including:
- Intro to Tech
- Tech Systems 1 & 2
- Manufacturing Operations (Furniture)
- Machine Tools (Home Woodworking)
- Engineering Design (Laser Design)
Their high school students will also now have access to industry-recognized credentials through SACA and Amatrol. Ontario doesn’t just want students to memorize answers for a test, they want their students to gain the skills needed to solve problems, analyze and understand data, work with a team, explore careers, and prepare for their futures with confidence.
Knowing we played a role in helping this school bring its vision to life made us even more excited for the next opportunity to support other schools in doing the same!
By the way, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has an E4E Grant competition right now that can help your school create advanced career technical education opportunities for your students too. Join EEP on Thursday, March 20th from 9-11 for our free E4E Grant Support Session to learn more, or contact Michele@envisionedplus.com or 614.893.7341 to talk about how EEP can support your grant writing effort for this, or other, grants.
