Congratulations to our friends at United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley for being awarded two 21st Century Community Learning Center grants.

Struthers Elementary School and B.L. Miller Elementary School were dedicated to understanding their district data as well as their communities’ needs. Through this close examination, they determined a need for high-quality afterschool and summer programs. These programs will address academic achievement gaps among their youth and help to re-engage and empower their elementary students so they can lead successful academic careers through grade school and beyond!

Thanks to the grants, their students will now have access to online skills practice and assessments, one-on-one and small group tutoring, and project-based learning aligned to academic standards and their interests. These schools will keep learning fun and engaging by offering field trips and having special guests. They will also be able to offer clubs such as arts and robotics clubs.

We are so happy to have had the opportunity to help Struthers and B.L. Miller Elementary School apply and WIN this grant, and we can’t wait to see how much positive impact this has on the elementary students and their families!
