Description

The NSF STEM K-12 Program supports research that improves STEM teaching and learning across formal and informal settings. Projects may develop theory, tools, curriculum, or technologies that enhance STEM education and workforce pathways. The program encourages innovation, collaboration, and the use of emerging technologies such as AI. Three types of awards are available: 

  1. Research & Development proposals: Supports projects that advance research or program development, usually requiring multi-year work and measurable outcomes.
  2. Conference proposals: Fund conferences, workshops, or events that advance research, collaboration, or knowledge exchange. 
  3. CAREER awards: Long-term funding for educators and researchers, early in their career. 

 

Federal grants have robust requirements related to submitting grant applications, proposal development, implementation, and evaluation. Potential applicants are encouraged to read the full solicitation.

Eligibility

Open to U.S.-based: 

  • Colleges and universities (2 & 4 years)
  • 501(c)(3) Nonprofits 
  • For-profit companies
  • State / local governments and Tribal Nations
  • No limit on the number of proposals per organization or Individual
