Description

This grant is for supporting out-of-school time programs that serve middle school aged youth and should prepare students for success in high school, college, and life.

This grant program includes both one- and two-year grant opportunities, but applicants may only apply for one of these.

  • One-year grants will begin in June 2024 and end in May 2025.
  • Two-year grants will begin in June 2024 and end in May 2026.

One-Year Grants
20 one-year grants of $15,000 each will be awarded. Ten will be for supporting programs’ efforts around racial equity and social justice, and 10 will be for supporting programs’ efforts around youth entrepreneurship.

Two-Year Grants
The two-year grants are for supporting programs in expanding direct service activities, technical assistance, capacity building, and improving efforts in continuing to serve youth while facing the challenges post-pandemic.

There are two separate 2-year grant opportunities.

  • 10 grants for $50,000/year over the span of two years, for a total 2-year grant award of $100,000. Only afterschool and summer programs with annual program budgets of $250,000 or more AND annual organizational budgets of $500,000 or more will be eligible to apply for these grants.
  • 10 grants at $25,000/year over the span of two years, for a total 2-year grant award of $50,000. Only organizations with annual organizational budgets of $250,000 or more will be eligible for these grants.

Eligibility

Applicants need to have 501(c)(3) status. You will be required to verify your EIN as a part of the application.

You must serve middle school youth (6th, 7th, 8th graders). Organizations applying for funding may serve students outside of this grade range but grant funds are specifically for middle school youth.

Applicants must serve a high percentage (at least 75 %) of low-income youth. For the purposes of this grant program, “low-income” is defined as students who qualify for the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program (FRPL).
